Q. Who is the program for? What are the admission requirements?

A. We offer 2 tracks for the program, the certification track and the continuing education track. They have different admission requirements.

Certification Track

Certification in yoga therapy at the 500-hour and certification as a yoga therapist at the 800-hour level.

Admission requirements:

200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate

One year of yoga practice

One year of yoga teaching

Continuing Education Track

This track grants certificates of attendance for individual modules and does not lead to certification as a yoga therapist.

It is intended for yoga teachers from all traditions, for alternative therapists, counselors, energy healers, paramedics, medical personnel and anyone from allied fields who wants to understand the mechanics of Kundalini Yoga more deeply.

Accreditation of Prior Learning/Accreditation of Prior Experience by application.

Q. How much does the program cost?

A. Pricing for course is per module. Module pricing for 2022/2023 is posted in course description.

Q. How long does it take to complete the program?

A. The 500-hour program is designed to take about 2 years to complete and the 800-hour about 3 years. Students can aim to complete the full program in 3-4 years.

 

Q. What is the homework like for the modules?

A. Modules 1-6 each have an online exam, a presentation assignment and a 90-120 day meditation homework, as well as a follow-up check-in meeting in small groups. These modules include 3 follow-up meetings for student presentations, as well as several hours of pre-recorded video that supplements what we have learned in the module.

Other modules are assessed with exams and written or presentation homework assignments.

Practicum mentors may assign reading, give research assignments and recommended practices.

 

Q. Who is the program accredited by?

A. The 500-hour program is accredited by Kundalini Medicine and Yoga Alliance Professionals UK.

We have designed our 800-hour course to align with the current standards of IAYT. Kundalini Medicine has submitted a pre-application for IAYT accreditation of our yoga therapy education program with the intention of submitting a full accreditation application.

 

Q. Can I attend the all of the program online?

A. Yes, for cohorts beginning prior to the end of 2022, it is possible to attend all of the program online. We do encourage students to attend some parts of the course in-person when it is possible both travel and safety-wise to do so. For students beginning in 2023, we await guidance from IAYT on their updated guidelines on online attendance.

Q. Do you accept transfer credit?

A. Yes, we accept transfer credit for some parts of the course. Please see our transfer credit policy for more information.

Q. What do you mean by equivalent prior study for the prerequisites for Modules 1 & 2?

A. In order to attend Modules 3-6, students must have foundational knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and Kundalini Yoga. If you wish to attend on this basis, please fill out the prerequisite equivalency form and we will evaluate your prior study and experience in these fields and advise you how best to proceed.

Q. Can I take just one module? Is there a benefit from taking one module?

A. Yes, what you learn in one module can give a new dimension to your teaching and your personal practice and self-care.

Q. Can I purchase the recording of a course? Do I receive credit for watching the recording of a course?

A. We sometimes make recorded courses available for enrichment purposes. Our attendance policy is that for courses run online in real-time, students must attend at least 80% live in order to receive credit.

Q. What are the certification requirements?

A. 500- hour certificate:

For students beginning the course in 2022, the requirements for certification are the 6 Core KM modules, Anatomy & Physiology, Professional Practice & Personal Development Part One, 20 hours SuperVision plus supervised case studies, presentation projects and a passing grade on all examinations.

800-hour certificate:

The requirements for the 800-hour Advanced Certificate Program are:

All the requirements for the 500-hour program plus Biomedical Foundations, Psychology & Development, Professional Practice & Personal Development Part Two, the Mentored Practicum with 150 hours of Yoga Therapy delivery and 30 hours 1-1 mentoring, and sufficient electives to complete the required program hours.
